About Premier Pain Management

CRNA Pain Management Externship

This course is intended to guide students through an individualized hybrid learning experience.  The course content is comprehensive and of benefit to any provider interested in learning about the multidisciplinary aspects of pain management.  This course will also will provide information on how to start and run a multidisciplinary pain clinic.

Although this is a self-paced course, it is designed to be completed within a one-year time frame. Currently continuing education units have not been applied for the online portion through the AANA, but each student can apply or petition their respective professional associations for continuing education hours (CEs), or continuing medical education hours (CMEs). Each student will be required to record the amount of time required to complete assignments for each of the various sections. The course administrator will also keep track of your progress.

This course will help prepare pain management practitioners to take the National Board of Certification & Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) as a prerequisite for their Nonsurgical Pain Management (NSPM) examination. The clinical labs, which include radiation safety and hands-on fluoroscopy  supervision, and the new NSPM course are accredited for CE approval through the AANA/Iowa Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

This externship program is an ethical and social response to address, at a local and national level, the problem of human pain and suffering.
